Introduce yourself to the classroom teacher at the beginning of year, and review communication preferences.
Support the teacher with parental communication throughout the school year - such as: surveys, reminders, information, specific supplies requests, and directing parents to the teacher regarding questions.
Reinforce the importance of families filling out the Unit of Inquiry home sheets for the teacher. This adds immense value to the classroom discussion and depth of conversation.
Organize class volunteers to donate baked goods for a teacher staff meeting once a year.
Organize class volunteers to assist with Hot Lunch on assigned division day(s) once or twice per year.
Organize and encourage class volunteers to support the classroom teacher during hot lunch and fruit & veggie days, Terry Fox & Nancy Leith run, field trips, scholastic book orders, class events and parties.
Start dialogue with other parents about Christmas and End of the year teacher gifts - some parents like to participate in a group gift while others like to say ‘thank you’ their own way. If a parent in the class would like to organize a group gift you can help with communication on this.
Organize class volunteers to support children in creating the ‘class plate’ for the Spring Gala fundraiser.
Assist in Grade 7 Farewell fundraising (grade 7 only)
Support and promote Capilano PAC events to parents.
